Default obd1 p72 (help)

well today i installed a obd1 p72 on my car (ek with b16) and the CEL came on it trew a 31 which is automatic transmission b signal. well i dont know what the hell that means if anyone does let me know. then i replaced it with the obd2 p72 and it went away, swithced it again to the obd1 and drove for like 50 miles and its not coming up no more. just wanted to know what caused it. thanks in advance.

i think you might have read the code wrong, no way for a manual ecu to throw an automatic code. might have been 41 which is o2 sensor or 21 which is vtec.

specially if your ecu is usdm...then you really did not get code 31

is it safe to run a p72 ecu on a b16 engine?
