i was wondering if you can run a 1996 p72 on 2001 gsr?

are there any differences? like v1 and v2.

i have a 1996 ecu and my friend bought an auction car (01 gsr) and wanted to know if the ecu would work.

96-98 ECUs use harness plugs A,C and D. 99-01 ECUs use connectors A, B, C or it was vis-versa. 00-01 came with a diasabling device. you may be better off going to OBD1.

 

so could you use the 96 in a 01?

i mean so can you plug it in just temporarily?

96-99 are known as OBDIIa. 00-up is known as OBDIIb. The plugs are a little different. You won't be able to plug the ECU in.
