I've got a b20vtec that is throwing a number 1 cylinder position sensor code. Has a known good distributor, with good timing. I'm running the vtec waterpump with the vtec timing belt. I've tried several different ecus, in two different cars, 2 different wiring harnesses, 3 different distributors (one is brand new), and I can't get code 9 to go away. Car continues to run in limp mode because of the code. No other codes are present. I'm running an obd2 - obd1 conversion, but wiring is not the issue as the code 9 was being thrown in the obd1 car it was running in with the obd1 harness. Any suggestions?
Before you flame, I have searched all over and have found nothing.

hey I did not mean it sarcastically. I was hoping one of the topics had your solution. Try reading your code once more. If you did all the recomended fixes to your code 9 perhaps it is being masked by another problem/code.

Just a code 9, no other codes. I have gone through all of the things that I have found to cause the problem, as listed above. The distributor is set to whatever stock timing is... 16 degrees I think? Did it with a gun, without a dial.
