The casting looks okay to me, however it does look a bit strange doesn't it? As long as the edges do not land in a journal or the rocker pads touch them there would be no problem with what I see.

It's strange for sure, i've already installed many other cams (from other brands) and i've never seen something like that...

core shift. it's fairly common with cast cams to a degree (or any cast part for that matter). As long as there isn't interference, the rocker pads won't know the difference.

If is common on cast cams why i never saw a oem cam like this? For me this was a cam that doesn't had the final inspection control and some how pass, maybe some distraction or whatever from the operator. On this set only the exhaust one came like this the intake one is perfect.

Because you obviously haven't seen enough OEM cams. The OEM K20A3 cams currently sitting on my desk are exactly the same - Honda doesn't even grind off the parting line flash!!!! Every K-series cam from Honda must be defective from the factory!!! Revolt!!!!

In all seriousness, cast cams hardly ever look like they jewels they shoot for product and promotional photos.

The issue you've brought to everyone's attention is no cause for concern. But don't take my word for it, I only see a couple hundred sets of cams per month.

I was one step ahead of ya until I realized the camera battery is dead. It's charging now, I'll post some pics up tomorrow. The exhaust cam on my desk is particularly nice since it has core shift at the peak of the #1 lobe. And it was run for 160,000+ miles without issue.

What i think is strange on this particular cam is that all the lobes on both sides has this problem and the intake one is perfect like i said before.

One of the lobes even doesn't look straight.

Ok then when the battery is full just share the pic. I will take some more pics too of this camshaft.

Thanks

I'm not saying the brand of the cams since i don't want to damage the brand in anyway. Currently, they have been helping me out with some issues, therefor i'll fill you out on the cams if that doesn't work out.

Thanks for understanding
