Default norm for temp gauge?

what do u guys see as normal for ur stock temp gauge. on my sohc in moderately warm temp, i'm seeing one or two needle widths below dead center. is this somewhat normal? i usually see the needle in the dead center year round and a coupla days ago i drained my coolant and flushed my radiator out cuz it started getting really warm here. the needle dropped slightly but i just wanted to check to see what normal operating temps are. thanks

needle at just below 1/2 way = anywhere between 160 and 210 F water temp.
