Nitrous on h22. HELP!!!
I've searched on here and only found one thread that had info containing what amount of nitrous is safe to run on my h22a, and i hate to ask, but does ANYONE that might have a h22a know what is pretty safe to run on one? I've seen all the way up to a 125 shot, but REALLY, how safe can that really be on a STOCK h22a?
We haven't reworked the internals or bottom end at all, but the motor IS in great shape. (We replaced ALL the seals and gaskets, and such.) And the motor has only 50,189 miles on it.
Now, i JUST blew up my lil d16 with a 75 shot last week, but can my h22a handle SAFELY atleast a 75 shot? It's a wet kit, and i can monitor it runnin lean with my air/fuel gauge, so that shouldn't be a problem. I just DON'T wanna blow up my new h22a like i did my lil d16.
THANKS TO ANNNNYONE for help!!1

When we first put NOS on my friends h22a eg it was a 70 shot. It was ran 12's. Every weekend for 5 weeks he had to refill the bottle because he used it A LOT. Afte that he blew a headgasket, once we fixed it we left it at 70 and used a little more discretion and never had a problem since. I think that a 100 shot would be OK as long only use it when you race. Make sure to change your plugs to NGK bkr7e. You should also retard timing a few degrees.
I had the same 70 shot on my civic and never once had any problems.

I have heard that you can run up to 150 shot but it all comes down to your tunning. If your tunning sucks then stick with a 50 shot, remember you can always sneek up on it.
I mean yea. It's pretty much a stoch h22a, and i was just curious. Also, I've been told repeated times that Nitrous Express Kits are rated "at the wheels" horsepower gains. Does that mean that a "75 shot" is really like a 85 or so to the flywheel before the wheels? I mean, it's kinda like spraying a 85 or 90 shot of any other nitrous kit, or is it? That would mean I SHOULDN'T run the 75 shot, bein that i have a Nitrous Express kit, right?
I have a 1.5ltr SOHC and i can spray 120 shot to it and it has stock internals and 191,000 miles on it it all depends on if you can keep enough fuel with the nitrous and youll be safe just dont get cocky and think tha the block is bulletproof and fogger placement is also a raised question that you want to think about if you place it in the intake tube 12in away you may want to go with a bigger shot but if you place them directly in the intake runner you would want to be careful of how much you use or how long you hold it
if you're going to run anything bigger that a 75 shot,
you should go direct port, get a new fuel pump like a warlbro 255,
and retard the ignition.
i would stick with a 75 shot, get some colder plugs, retard the ignition
1 or 2 degrees and call it a day

i have heard of runing a 100-125 shot on a stock B18C or H22A before, and it lasted quite some time, but i have never actually seen it in person to verify.
it would be safe to say that a 75-80 shot is ok to run on a stock block setup.
that is why alot of manu. recommend it, and no higher. but alot of it has to do with the condition of the motor and the mixture being forced into it. if the motor has had a rough, long life then it may not even last on a 75 shot for a while. or if the mixture is lean and you severely detonate, you can say goodbye to the motor.
those are two main factors to consider.

Dave, I have a direct port system for sale if you are interested. What kit was it that you bought from us at Mobile Electronics? I might be able to work out some kind of trade. One of my sponsorship deals left me with some extra parts.

PLAY IT SAFE 40-50 SHOT. NO MORE ! H22A SUFFER FROM WEAK RINGLANDS, THEY CANT TAKE EXCESS COMPRESSION PRESSURES GENERATED BY NITROUS OR TURBO INDUCED FORCES. REPLACE PISTONS AND RINGS.AND GET NITROUS PROGRESSIVE CONTROLLER, IF YOU WANT MORE. TAKE IT FROM EXPERIENCE AND SAVE THAT BLOCK AND HARD EARNED $$$$$$$$$$$.
