Default NIRA Sold Out!!!

Sent from a friend of mine...Prof. Nate Romero

NIRA is GONE!!!! Their new owners (PriMedia) sold out. They said 'we make magazines, not race events'. So, they have made an 'alliance' with the NHRA Import Series.
Now everyone who was building a nIra pro-car could be getting screwed. (especially the pro-stock cars)
Currently, the NHRA import class rules show that they are LAZY.
If ANY of the floors are cut, they add on 100lbs. (this includes cutting out the sparetire-well!!!)
If I were to run this year, I would had a 1800lbs car (seventeen plus a hundred for cutting the sparetire-well)
They even admit that they don't want to take the time to determine weights for different cars. Methanol, propane, ethanol or gasoline..... doesn't make a difference. 2950cc or 1560cc.... they don't care.
This affects EVERYONE, since there are no more nIra street classes anymore (comp4, power4...etc.)
WE ALL need to contact them and voice our concerns NOW!!!!
They plan on coming out with the rulebook in late November. Don't just sit by and let these people screw up the sport of Import Drag Racing. They don't know anything about racing a FWD car, so it's up to ALL of us to give them some input.

Their e-mail is:

NHRA@NHRA.com

Pleas reply back to them....put NHRA Imports in the subject section.
Thanks.

NHRA has the financial backing and power to catapult the import racing to the next level...if NIRA is now being run by NHRA I predict that you will see the others slowly lose their audiences...NHRA Import Drag Racing presented by Summit Racing Equipment...soon to come.

I'm just saying that to show the marketing power of an organization of NHRA's caliber...they have money and connections...it is both good, and bad.

I was pretty sure that they had...now there is one less series out there, but the NHRA will catapult this into the "semi-mainstream"
