NIRA is GONE!!!! Their new owners (PriMedia) sold out. They said 'we make magazines, not race events'. So, they have made an 'alliance' with the NHRA Import Series.
Now everyone who was building a nIra pro-car could be getting screwed. (especially the pro-stock cars)
Currently, the NHRA import class rules show that they are LAZY.
If ANY of the floors are cut, they add on 100lbs. (this includes cutting out the sparetire-well!!!)
If I were to run this year, I would had a 1800lbs car (seventeen plus a hundred for cutting the sparetire-well)
They even admit that they don't want to take the time to determine weights for different cars. Methanol, propane, ethanol or gasoline..... doesn't make a difference. 2950cc or 1560cc.... they don't care.
This affects EVERYONE, since there are no more nIra street classes anymore (comp4, power4...etc.)
WE ALL need to contact them and voice our concerns NOW!!!!
They plan on coming out with the rulebook in late November. Don't just sit by and let these people screw up the sport of Import Drag Racing. They don't know anything about racing a FWD car, so it's up to ALL of us to give them some input.

Word, we gotta say something. NIRA hit me off lovely this year Can't let the Comp 4 and Power 4 classes die.

 

No more NIRA/NHRA races at Palmdale, Bakersfield, Sacramento or Las Vegas. THAT SUCKS. They have promised that there will be classes for all NIRA racers for 2002. NHRA has been around for 50 years and are going to be promoting imports much stronger next year. Let's hope for the best...

 

Its no fair how they lump categories together. For example they have an All Motor class which can incorporate any na engine in any car instead of having separate and equal classes like a comp4 class. A friggin 1600 lb CRX all raced out is not fair competition to me.

It is lazy but i'm sure they won't do nothing to change it. This sport is getting WAYYYYY competitive now and its going out of control. Its not fun anymore which is how it was when it first started. Now its all pro teams that have deep pockets with sponsors. It sux..

 

I did care about street classes and **** but you know what? Im not going to let this stop me fack it. I will just have to do more... So be it if I have to race against fawkin supa fast cars like Kubo, Bergenholtz and everyone else that has sponsors with lotsa money.. Its all about putting a show on for the crowd to keep **** exciting... Ill just make sure that they do mention that my car is a street car with 140+ traps.

 

what i like to see is a FWD street tire class..cause it bullshit the way NIRA and NHRA lump FWD,RWD+AWD together in the street class...any FWD got no shot at beating the RX7.com car that rules that class..unless he blows up.
