Ok, so like 3 months ago I bought my first car. A '97 Civic EX (at) with about 78,000 miles on it. Since I bought it, I only get about 25 mpg.....so i'm not getting what I should.

Everything in the engine is stock except for the fuel rail. (I don't know why the previous owner put one in). It has projector halo black housing jdm headlights, and that is pretty much all I think the previous owner did.

But I always smell gasoline in the car, something is leaking, but I sdon't know what.

The engine seems to lag/bog sometimes, like when appling the accelerator the engine works harder and faster, but the wheels aren't getting the power. Then after a few seconds the wheels kick in and I go faster. What is going on?

I just recently change the oil, the oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter. Car seems to not have changed.

Please help.

I am suspecting o2 sensors and/or timing belt. But I don't know anything about cars.....
