New User. Need advice with parts.
Just Bought my first car. I'm new to Honda Tech. I'm 18, and an RSX non -S was my first choice. Good car. Woulda got the S but saved on insurance-kills 18 yr olds!!!!! So. I would like help on what i should get for my car. I already got Injen short ram intake, tenabe cat back exhaust, and apexi-vafc (which currently isn't tuned.....) and carbon fiber hood. E-mail me for a pic if your interested. But mainly just want help on headers, and possibly super charger/turbo when they come out. I'm looking at maybe DC Sport headers, so, let me know please!!!!
good advice... see how it runs stock, then you'll appreciate what it's like after putting misc. parts in it. taking it apart will suck. always a headache even when you think you know what you're doing.
I am new to HT also, but I have experience with the DC header. I have a 4-1 ceramic on my civic, and the sound and extra power are definately noticeable. I have only good things to say about it.
A few tips from my own hard-learned lessons, having been a teenager in the last decade:
•Spend your cash on good driving experiences: club track schools are usually pretty cheap--I used to run Porsche and BMW club events as an event-filler (pay a little more, but it's cheaper than a Porsche)
•Skip the street races, join the SCCA; you'll stay alive have cheaper insurance.
•Maybe a set of extra wheels and tires for Solo II events or track schools. Light, strong wheels with good versatile race rubber. For me: Kumhos and Kosei's, but to each their own.
•Put a K&N filter in it, and maintain the crap out of it. Good fluids when they're supposed to go in, good plugs, good filters, all of it. Carnauba wax is good for you, even for a racer.
•DO NOT try to fix it yourself until you have a nice old curmudgeon of a mechanic to tell you how not to f'k it up. Find somebody who'll give you good advice without treating you like ****.
You've got a good car with a good chassis, but if you don't have a good range of driving skills and experiences, you're still gonna get beat. Go to an autocross, and talk to the middle-aged guy who's stomping everybody with a near-stock Celica, Miata, or Neon.
Sorry for the philosophy class, but it'll help, I promise.
Congrats on the sweet ride--take care of it, it'll take care of you
