Re: New forged pistons (Fobtions)

someone told me that forged pistons will expand and rub against the stock honda sleeves

yeah, thats why you run more piston to cyl. wall clearance.
forged pistons will be a lot harder on your cyl. walls no matter what.

Re: New forged pistons (mmuller)
run more or run less? cuz if u run more, isn't there a greater possibility of rubbing when it expands?

no, if you run less clearance it will rub more.....forged pistons run more clearance, thats why when cold they slap

Re: New forged pistons (GWInquisitor14)
If you run more piston to wall clearance than there is more room for the pistons to grow. the piston manufacturer will be able to tell you what clearance to run. the amount of clearances also depends on the compression of the piston and the amount of boost and or N2O you are going to be running.

Re: New forged pistons (N2O)
ya, for example:

stock PTWC is : around .0016

and lets say...Endyn/Wiseco run around 0.0021-0.0022

kinda, i mean it all depends on what your goals are; for example for NA you dont need such a big ptwc because they wont expand as much as FI applications. And tighter clearance is better for longevity and ring seal.
For FI applications also differs in how much boost you going to run....more boost= more clearance
