new Clutch making chattering noise. problem?
i just installed a new exedy clutch a couple weeks ago with an ITR flywheel. I notice whenever i press the clutch pedal to the very end i hear a faint chattering noise that wasn't there before when it was stock. is this normal?
also, my exedy clutch feels very numb. also the pedal feel is a little harder i cant seem to feel the car. when the balance point is.
Anyways my question is whether its the clutch itself or the installation was bad. or perhaps its normal. any ideas on what this might be? anyone has exedy clutch experience? let me know thanks.

it could be possible you are pressing the release bearing in too far and the pressure plate fingers are touching the clutch disc. Could be from the flywheel you used. Have you ever adjusted your clutch pedal? It may be too high. I had no problems with my exedy- but I will say it feels much better after having driven it for a month. It seemed like it engaged too soon and it felt like it had assloads of spring loaded pedal travel after engagement. 91 rex- cable trans. The pedal will feel harder as it is a heavier duty pressure plate. I am using an aluminum flywheel- and I still stall the bitch every once in a while (damn 1.5l). Trust me, you will get used to the pedal feel.

hey break- exedy makes clutches for honda- that's why I bought one. A performance honda clutch is basically what it is. I will say that the disc causes your transmission gears to "rattle" on decel (just like an S2000) but it does not cause harm (according to honda).
Well Thanky fixhondas.. performance parts are not my strongpoint, thats why we got you here! but with the knowledge of us combined (you too Teken with one K!) we can come up with some pretty insightful responses to help these peeps out..

Reach under down below by the clutch pedal, feel around and you will feel a rod on the back side of it that goes through the firewall. I believe you will have to loosen the release nut with a 12mm end wrench and then back the rod out. If you are reaching down from the steering wheel turn the wrench clockwise once you have it on the release nut. Once that is done, turn the rod counterclockwise, backing it out of the firewall and screwing it back more into the clutch pedal. The easiest way to do it is to just go down there and look around. You will be able to see how it works it's really simple. If that is the case your problem should be fixed!! hope it works
Was the flywheel machined/turned at the time of the clutch install? That's an integral part of any clutch install! Otherwise, only hotspots may develop on the friction disc, where spotty contact is made between the friction disc and the flywheel.
are all the pedals adjustable?? I know my gas and brake pedal position makes it really hard to do heel-toe. anyways, thanks for the tip. i'll adjust my clutch pedal this weekend.
yes. i told them to resurface the flywheel.
