New clutch, MAJOR issues! Please help
With that said I'm really just venting I guess. I don't really expect any money from them, but a free flywheel or something would be nice.
I can understand wanting to vent but it really is up to the installer to make sure it is going to work before installing it. Some companies might not even give you another clutch since you already attempted to run it but give them a call - the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Heh yeah. I was a fool for trusting that Competition Clutch was more reputable than making a mistake like that. But what can you do when it's 12am on a Sunday night and you need to be at work in 8 hours?
I've contacted the resaler so far about the issue via pm. I just wanted to touch basis with them first before going directly to CC.
Also, it being a kevlar clutch, you can imagine what it looked like after 200 miles of constant slipping. It's so glazed, it looks like it should be in a box with a Krispy Kreme sticker on it. lol

Those guys at CC are some pretty cool dudes.
Shouldnt be a problem I wouldnt think.
Have you thought that maybe who u bought it from may have sent you the wrong one?

As far as the kit being possibly made for another car, I can't imagine that kit working on any car with a flat flywheel. You would pretty much need a dugout or concave looking flywheel...
Who knows though?
So I contacted Competition Clutch about the kit and they were extremely quick with their responses, and just overall very friendly and cool. They issued me a return authorization the same day I contacted them via their website. Great customer service I must say.
Anyway, here are some pictures confirming the mismatch. lol...

^Just a shot of the pp alone to show how thick the **** is...

^Another look at it

^Glazed?

^ Notice how far above the pp the disc sits

^ditto

^and again
I will admit, that had the install not been accompanied by giant cups of vodka and OJ, we probably would have noticed BEFORE installing. lol
You live and you learn right?

UPDATE: Got a call from CC today as they received my kit in the mail earlier this morning. Their tech told me that after fully inspecting the entire kit, there doesn't seem to be any issues with the combo. The disc and plate are correctly matched, and neither is thicker than spec! I was literally stunned for a minute a two with the news I heard. I insisted that there must be something wrong, as every single part related to the clutch system (other than pedal assembly) was replaced.
Kyle (the CC tech I've been working with) put me on hold for a bit, and came back with more news...
Apparently the flywheel I'm using is incompatible with every single clutch kit they sell for the h22. Their kits are designed to work with flywheels that have a step, or a recessed area that disc sits in. My flywheel is completely flat, and thus does not work with CCs kits.
Anyone ever heard of such a thing? I called a few reputable tech buddies and they were just as shocked by the info as I am. It seems like that would be something CC should advertise on their website. At this point, the only thing CC is willing to do is sell me a compatible flywheel at a discounted price.
I'm quickly losing my faith in CC.
