New cam break in?
ok i have been reading threads that tell you to break in the cams @ XXXX rpms for XX-XX amount of time after making sure everything is in spec and torqued correctly...ok now, what about a proper tune before breaking them in????? I am about to go from rocket stage 2 (r m22x) to either cheaper stg 2 cams or try to save money for the rm22x because my rm22x cams are wore out and the intake cam actually broke into 3 peices lol...
ok my jdm itr is tuned for the rm22x cams and I am wondering if i would need a tune b4 "breaking in" my new different set or even starting the car for that matter...
I actually have purchased some obx stg 2 cams but i have been hearing they will eat my rockers ...that is one of the problems i had with the rocket cams as well so WTF. I have had the rocket cams in the jdm itr hatch for aprx 20-25k mi and when my intake cam broke i noticed my rockers are wore down considerably and my camshafts are "flattening" out as well...
purchased a used gsr head on ebay and im using the rockers out of it...
also...what is "lashing the valves"?? is it adjusting the valve clearances?
THANKS FOR ANY INFO
OH AND OBX CAMSHAFTS FS decided to stay rocket so i dont have to tune https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1947008

hey,
After changing cams in my car. I ran it for 1k miles then changed the oil, and adjusted the valve lash again. Yes lashing the valves means valve adjustment. Then I just ran the car for 3k miles and did oil change at regular interval and checked the vavle lash again. I never had the problem of worn down rockers. If you are the one installing the cam make sure the valve lash is also being adjusted. Not just slapping in a cam and calling it a day.

yeah i plan on doing it myself....thats why i am asking these questions. So what about the tune...is it safe to run the car for lets say 100 mi to the dyno tuning shop? all hwy
"Breaking in" new cams is all about frictional wear. I doesn't matter if the car is tuned or not.
But it will run lean, so it's best to drive it like a granny on the way to the tuner, for detonation's sake.

well would it be worth the $$ to have my dad tow it with his truck and pay for the dolly or trailer++40bucks cuz 15mpg x 100mi one way in gas...i know to rent a dolly for a day is like 80 bucks or so from uhaul
just wondering..i mean the car is tuned for stage two cams already just not to these exact profiles...i might just drive it...jdm itr with rocket cams was getting 27 mpg tuned i would save alot w gas and no trailer
