new built motor question.
when the motor is cold it sounds good but when it warms up it gets a loud ticking. let it cool down then no ticking again. what could this be? just did a valve adjustment and most were to tight could that have been the problem?
What grade oil are you using?
I would make sure you have the right weight oil in there first, and then check the lash when the motor is completely (more than 3 hours) cold.
What motor do you have and what were the lash specs that you used?

oh sorry i am using 10w 30 in a gsr with p30 pistons and a b16 head all stock but i have skunk2 valve springs. like i said its only when it warms up. :/
Oil is thick when it is cold, go back to 5w30 and I would guess you'd tick at idle as well. Put the right grade oil in there, and adjust your valves.
A slight tick or sewing machine type noise is just fine, all engines make some noise, just make sure its harmonic, not random, random noises are very bad lol.

Take the valve cover back off and look at the lobes on the cam. there are two rails that run across the cams, one each, that have oil ports in them to lube the rocker pad and cam lobe, you might have one that is partially clogged up. That sound definitely looks like its coming from the head.
You might be able to spot the clog if you run without the valve cover on it, and inspect the flow on rockers/lobes with a flashlight.
You also could have a LMA that is sticking on you.

That sounds pretty vicious...almost like a diesel. As suggested before, remove the valve cover and turn the motor over by hand and see if anything is binding or functioning abnormally. Also, what specs did you adjust the valves to? If everything else checks out, I'm willing to bet your LMA's are toast.
i put them to .006 on the intake and .007 on the exhaust. and made it to where i cant fit the next size up in. im gonna go get new lmas i think they are toast too. it is a 92 head. and i took it to the machine shop and the lmas rusted a bit before i put them in. bet that killed them.
