New Alternative to GM Synchromesh available.
If any of the numerous Synchromesh users out there care, there is a new alternative to the expensive GM branded MTF.
AMSOIL is coming out with a Manual Transmission Fluid as a replacement for the GM Synchromesh MTF. I was surprised by the price as it looks like it's going to be just under $7.00 per quart. I believe the GM/Pennzoil stuff is petroleum, where this is synthetic.
I'm about due for tranny fluid change in the Si and I think I'm going to try this stuff out.
Thought you guys might be interested.

The only real difference that I can see is that Redline does not state that their product is a direct replacement for specific OEM product numbers. They just state that it can be used in most manual transmissions. AMSOIL directly states that it replaces GM part #1234349, 12345577, etc etc.

Good question, it doesn't say wether or not it's compatible with LSD. I know their 75w90 gear lube is, I run that in the WRX. Something to look into.

interesting because the kaaz requires a different formulation because it is a clutch type lsd than a itr lsd which is basically a torsen and requires nothing special. Kaaz fluid is designed to control the expansion of the fluid within to allow the plates to lock under tension. No benefits at all except extra additives which may take away from lubication qualities in a itr lsd equipped transmission.

Amsoil products are top notch, I should know I sell the stuff
I have been using Amsoil oil in all my cars for years now. But I have not used the new Amsoil Synchromesh MTF. For years now I have used BG Syncro Shift II, even now with my LSD installed I still used it. The stuff is amazing!! If your using Reline, try BG, you will notice a SIGNIFICANT difference. Redline MTF = JUNK if you ask me.
My suggestion, Amsoil or BG, nothing else unless you are running a clutch type LSD

Anyways GM changed the name for their syncromesh friction modified and I didn't fee like risking it not being the same fomula so while browsing the corvette forums I found that those guys are switching to BMW's M5 MTF, it's synthetic, its cheaper then GM syncromesh Friction modified and according to them works even better then the GM stuff... Just a heads up
