Hey i have a D16y7 engine, tried to get the drain plug out but it just spins so i bought a new oil pan, going to get a new gasket tomorrow. my problem however is getting the oil out before i drop the pan. how can i? drill a hole in to the bottom and hope for the best? and also how should i go about cleaning my new oil pan, its pretty dirty from the junkyard and i want to clean the inside out before i put my new oil in. thankss

Did you use a 12 point or 6 point when you were removing your drain plug??


Yes just drill a hole, either that or you can pull your motor and put upside down and let it drain through the oil fill-port.
I would drill it at a 90 degree angle from the side though so you wont hit the oil pick up.

As for the new one, just throw some degreaser and go to town on it, it doesnt need to be clean as fck.

next time let your engine get good and warm before you try to change your oil and your plug will come out a lot easier and not round off.

degreeser make sure its pretty dry alil dit of water wont hurt but try to get it pretty dry and blown out. and remember only a y7/y8/y5 pans are compatible without swapping the oilpump n pick up.

If the op can remove the plug with the proper tools then they won't even need to drill holes or change out the pan just buy that set I posted earlier and a new drain plug is all that is needed.

I use brake cleaner to cleanup junkyard parts. Works fantastic.

Be careful though. I don't know about everyone, but brake clean is nasty stuff, and I'm highly sensitive to it. I have to wear gloves to use it or my hands itch and burn for days. I'd recommend glasses too. That stuff sucks to get in your eyes.
