Default need some new tires...

So I recently took my car to a tire shop and they told me that I need to have my front tires replaced. Sooooo I need some advice on what to get. I'm not interested in something crappy either, my back tires are in decent shape maybe about 45%, and my fronts are at about 10%, so yeah. I'm looking for something nice and sticky, and maybe something I can order off the internet too! thanks

helps to tell us what car you have (del Sol I'm guessing), what tire and wheel size you use, what your plans are for the car, and/or what the car is mostly used for.

well, do you need tires that are good in wet and dry weather? Do you need tires that work well in all seasons including occasional snow? Or would summer tires that work well in the rain suit you? You need to tell us what sort of climate your car is subjected to.

I've had 3 sets of Yokohama AVS ES100's. They perform well, but are fairly loud when they wear down. I'm currently using Kumho Ecsta SPT's in 205/45-16 for my 16" wheels, and just got a set of the same in 195/55-15 for my stock wheels but haven't mounted those yet. They also perform well, were a bit cheaper than the ES100's, but they are still somewhat loud on my 16's. They might not be as loud on my stock wheels (narrower tire and taller sidewall) but I don't know on that yet. Both of these tires perform well in both wet and dry, and yield a life of at least 30K-40K miles if your alignment is good and you don't beat on them.

well I live in the northwest, so I'm going to need something that can handle wet/dry mostly, we dont hardly get snow, so I'm not too worried about that. And yeah, like I stated before I wouldn't mind spending a little bit extra for safety/quality and I guess noise control too.

Also I wanted to factor in the cost of shipping to my house, and installation of the tires at a shop. Because I got a quote for about $225 for a set of two nicer tires.

Kind of a side question, whats with the nitrogen filled tires? Benefits? I just don't understand it.

Nitrogen works better than regular air (oxygen) for multiple reasons. It is a larger molecule than oxygen, therefor it is harder for it the escape thru the tire, allow for less pressure loss over a greater period of time. Nitrogen also experiences less heat transfer than oxygen. So when temps change from hot to cold, you don't have to worry as much because your tire pressure will stay the same, as well as when you're driving; not raising the tire temp like oxygen would. I race dirtbikes and have used it in my tires, i didn't notice a significant difference. And i think if you're just doing every day driving, its really not necessary. And i don't have a clue on the cost. That is just my knowledge and opinion on that subject. Any corrections and other ideas are gladly welcome. Hope i helped ya some what.
