Need info
Can anyone help me find info on what would be involved in using a d16y7 head on a d16z6? Also need info on converting my car to a manual 5-speed from an auto if anyone can help. Doing a full rebuild and want to take care of everything at one time so any help or info helps. Thanks.
Okay so I've done some googling and would like to rephrase my question a bit. First off, I'm not looking for a race ready engine. This is going to be a daily driver. I'm looking at maybe using some aftermarket internals. I know I'm looking for a higher compression rate which is why i asked about the y7 head at first. Now however I'm seeing that the y8 head with 5000 ths milled off would work better so I need some thoughts on that. I'm also looking at aftermarket pistons as well and rods to if compression gets to be to high for stock rods. Thinking of getting a stage 1 or 2 cam and an adjustable cam gear and aftermarket valve springs and such depending on what cam I end up going with. Might even be looking at chipping the ecu. The stock z6 comes with the p28 ecu from the factory correct? All I'm really looking for is a little help deciding what would be best for me. Any input is appreciated. Thanks y'all.
OP - Even though you should be focusing on getting a better job and taking care of your child first, you need to understand the basics. Every single piece of information you ask about has literally been done 100's of times with dozens of write-ups available on the internet. If you have extra money to blow you should just purchase a different car all together to get what you want and call it a day.
You may only pick two:
Cheap - Fast - Reliable
If you want it to be fast and cheap, it won't be reliable.
If you want it to be fast and reliable, it won't be cheap.

I appreciate your concern for my family's welfare, however it just so happens that I DO have a better job. This is not going to be one big build. I'm spacing this out so I don't spend all of or money at one time. I'm trying to be smart about this since I'm having to rebuild anyway. The motor in its current state is missing in two cylinders. And I realize that there are hundreds of write ups on this but none of them are going to be specific to my need specifically. Thus why I asked "I need help deciding what's best for me". I'm not wanting "race part", only aftermarket parts with slightly better performance than OEM parts. Please believe me, I'm trying to be sensible about this. Again, thank you for your concern about our welfare.

I'm not trying to bust anyone's ***** here but I only need my question answered. If not here then I'll get the info somewhere else. But regardless I'm going to set my car up how I want so please don't try to convince me otherwise. I asked because I'm looking for a set up that's right for me. If I had wanted a set up someone else has set up for their taste then it wouldn't be the same. To each their own right? All I'm looking for is opinion on how I should set my car up for daily driving and some fun on the weekends.
The "somewhere else" would be at the link I gave you. All this has been done and answered before. If you want a step by step and parts list you'll find it there. Unfortunately no one is going to hold your hand and find it FOR you when it's right on front of your face. NOTHING you plan to do is new so you're not doing anything unique. You're not planting any flags. It's been done before so you have NO CHOICE but to do something that someone else has already done.
All you posted was a link to the all motor section of the forum. Don't you think I tried there. The reason I asked is cause I haven't had any luck looking for myself. I realize you think that I'm being lazy and asking for someone else to do it for me but you don't know my specific situation. All you need to know is that I have looked and haven't had luck and need help. If you aren't willing to help then go back to whatever it is you like to do in your free time, cause I'm not wasting mine on you.

Do you actually think anyone is going to believe that you haven't had any luck finding any information on getting 150hp out of a D-series motor, or how to do a Mini-Me? Get up off of your *** and look! There are plenty of build threads with people doing similar builds. YOu aren't going to come up with a "different" combo or something no one else is running. Are you kidding me? You want hand holding! NO one is going to do that. The info is out there. You're just showing that you're too lazy/impatient to actually read and learn.
Stop throwing tantrums. You don't want to give up any information about your situation. It's like pulling teeth. You are being vague on purpose, giving up NO information YET you want members to give you EVERYTHING you want to know, because you say so? Bad attitude. Hence the reason no one is responding to this post.

Realistically, you could have looked at the FAQ's thread in the link grumblemarc posted... and you would have found this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/all-motor-%2A-sohc-%2A-chime-1771904/
