Default need HID help!

ok so i put HIDs in my EG and i hooked the power and ground wires from the box up the the oem light bulb connector with crimped male ends. and i gave the ground and extra ground strait to the body. so it has 2 grounds now, one from the connector and one to the body.

so my issue is, is that when my HIDs are on and i turn my radio on it gets staticy as hell. but with a CD it's fine. so only when my radio is on with the HIDs it gets staticky.

what should i do about this??? dose any one else have this problum???

where is the second ground going straight to the chassis located. It sounds like a ground loop that is affecting you antenna reception. Try disconnecting the second ground.

you should also consider a relay harness to feed power straight from the battery to those ballasts.

you need to feed power to the ballasts from the battery. the oem wires are kinda sorta , but not really enough. just use the harness they sent, tuck it too, and hook up its power under the hood where your wire is coming from the rear battery. if you can do a wire tuck, i have faith in you, you can make that harness work.

Durring start up HID ballasts can pull upwards of 30+amps, as well as they also run a multi shot ignition cycle to get the hid arc to light up. When pulling it's power thru the factor wiring it puts a load on the wiring, switch and factory headlight relay set-ups that can't handle the load and in most cases after a while yeild random headlight fuse failure.

Go to an automotive store and purchase an auxiliary light wiring kit, it should come with a relay, wire, possibly a swtich (not needed) and all the wire and connectors needed. Simply connect the input trigger wire for the relay (normally would goto the switch) to the low beam positive wire. This will yield a better power source to the hid lights as well as reduce the load on the factory wiring.

ok all this is very helpful, but this even happens when the car is off, not just while it's running. thata the thing it's weird. every one has thee oun idea of how to fix it. but this is an odd problem.

The static can be any number of things....... when the hid is starting up the ballasts is converting the 12volts up to something around 25000vac (I can't remember the exact number), and like any converter it creates an rf output while doing so..... The problem is the deck could be getting the feed back from either thru the antenna, a bad connection of the antenna to the deck or a reverse rf feed thru the positive or a simple rf feed thru the negative line...........

The first step would be to try to ground the ballasts to thier own bolts with no other electical wires connected to them as well as sand the paint down so the terminal gets better connection to the metal. Another option is to see if the body of the ballast is touching metal atall...... it maybe that the ballast needs to be isolated from the car......

ok so the up date is that today i got ontop of this lil BS problem. so i am now using the wire harness that came with the kit. i will try grounding it to it's own point somewhere with no other grounds. but like you siad "CarbonizedDX" maybe it's the ballasts boxes. the kit came with a painted metel monting box that your supsta mount to the body somewhere. so i'm gona see if i can make it so theres no way boxes can ground to anything. it might be a duct tape fest but if it works w/e it's all tucked so know one will know
