Default Need help ASAP, Please read

So I get my car done, tuned well enough to idle, and am ready to take it on the road to get her running right, than this...

I can't get my alternator to charge. I wired up a 12v+ from the ignition switch, to a 10amp fuse, to a bulb and to the wire which I thought was the correct one on the alternator plug (all of the wiring up to the alt is correct). Well it wasn't right, so I bugged onto the other 3 on the plug and non of them worked either. I'm almost positive the first one I was on (white/blue) is the correct one. The other 3 are yellow, black/yellow, white/yellow, the book and the trend seems to point to the white/blue.

Background info: 90 civic hatch, turbo b16a running Autronic SMC ems. Non of the stock wiring is left to use. ***also I did an opps a while back and had the main power wire to the alt. just dangling there, didn't realize it, hooked the battery back up and it shorted to something and burnt the wire...it may be possible the I fried my alternator but I'm thinking more along the lines the question below...***

Does the alternator ground out the signal for it to charge or is it grounded though the stock ecu? If its grounded through the ecu can I just ground that wire to the chassis or does it need ran through something else first?

Please help. This is all that is holding the car back from being done and terrorizing the track and streets.
