Default alternator wiring

what would be proper wiring for your alternator if you are running stand alone and no stock harness? this car will be driven on the street so it needs a alt..

ive searched and all i found was that you have to run 12v to the alternator and person who said it worked for them told me in pm that he fried 2 alt before giving up and continued to run battery only..

any help would be great..

thanks man that is how i wired it up today and while running i was getting 13.4-13.7v on my laptop from the alt power wire i was seeing around 14v so i guess its functioning.. im going to keep any eye on it and see how it goes.. im going to buy an actual guage for volts so i can see it when i dont have my software running..

i am running a dtafast E48 for now.. i also have a dtafast S60 which is newer and has a lot more features but for my all motor build the e48 is simple and works fine.. i like the dtafast sytems because i do not have a distributor..

What gauge wire do you have from the alt to the batt, I was also at 13.7~volts, when I upped the wire size from the alt to batt it went to 14.6~14.7v...

Anything 14V and higher is perfect at idle.
