Icon2 NEED HELP W/ PISTON RINGS??

i am sure there are some threads on this but i am new to all this.

Ok this is may be long but only to give you a better idea of what i have and working with. I got this on a trade and car runs good and fast. Here is what i know i have, b20b block, b18vtec head and b16 tranny, and i believe a 50trim turbo w/ front mount intercooler, 450 injectors, skunk 2 intake manifold.Don't know what brain i have, all i know its in clear case.

So here is the problem, i am smoking through my valve cover breather a lot so then i pull my plugs and the 1 2 3 4 looking down the 1st spark plug (closest to dist.) and oil was on the plug.

so i guess my real ? is i am looking into replacing my my rings, now do i just replace with oem rings or what. I would like to also add more hp. now that the engine is going to be pulled apart should i go with different piston, port polish head and intake. would like to also add cams.

please i am looking for all info for what is best ,reliable, and for what has worked for others.

if pics are needed of what i have i can get them to get a better general idea

thank you

at this point it's up to you and what you want to spend. oem rebuild or rod/piston.

if you just bought the car and its a lsvtec turbo and you need more power than something is wrong with the car lol.

as far as the smoke coming out of the valve cover. it could be other things besides rings.

run some tests on your engine before wasting money, compression test, leak down test etc...
does the car have a catch can? things like this would help us alot you know.

Yep, like stated above. Compression check and then the leakdown. Thats what you need to do before anything else

first off thanks for responding

i think i understand how to do a compression test and what do you mean leak down test?

also i have a b20b block is that considered an ls?

i asked a guy who does dyno's and a pretty reputable guy with imports, told him my issues and he said to get an ls block cause you can run more boost. I thought you had to sleeve a block if it was not an b20b block? He also advised me to get eagle rods/piston.The reason he said was because the b20b is a 84mm and ls is 81mm that why it can take power/punishment.

b18b1 is a very good platform for turbo! b20 is torquey but has very weak cylinder walls.

a leak down test is when u pressurise a combustion chamber and see how much pressure it loses. via head gasket, valves intake/exhaust, piston rings etc.....

theres no telling

all comes down to what turbo, how many pounds, how much horsepower, who tuned it, the list goes on and on but we are telling you that a b18a1/b1 is stronger than a b20. Get into the Forced Induction section and look through it theres a HUGEEEE!!!!!!! b18a1/b18b1 turbo write up. im sure all the questions you have are in there.

Good luck
