Default Need help with timming

When is the engine running lean, with a low or high CO reading and when is is to rich, low or high CO reading. One other thing, checked my timming marks and need some help. When TDC is align with mark on cover, the campulley's lines is aligned with the top and the up mark is up, but when checking the timming with a timming light, the 3 marks (14, 16, 18 Degree marks) isn't even close to the mark on the cover, and it doesnt help to advance or retard the distr. marks still doen line up with timing light. Cam was modified, for low end and head was skimmed 1mm. Any help. please to rectify this problem.

IF your crank pulley is lined up on the white mark when you put the timming belt on, and the cam pulley is up and the marks are properly set, you should be on the money.
It sounds to me like your off a tooth on the timming belt. You didn't really shave the head enough to through it that far off, maybe half a tooth is all.
What can happen is that you lined up the crank (white mark), lined up the cam pulley and had zero tension on the belt. You have to rotate the crank COUNTERCLOCKWISE 3 teeth to put tension on the belt before tightening the adjuster nut (14mm). If you rotate the crank clockwise the belt will jump a tooth every time with out question.
So my advice, undo the tensioner pulley nut, and line the crank tdc mark back up to the cover, and re-index the cam pulley to the crank and reset the belt, and make sure you go counterclockwise with the crank pulley this time. I would also reccommend that you check your timming marks through the whole process of putting the belt on, sometimes the crank can move if you hit the wrench on the crank nut...I have been in a rush and didn't check my marks and ended up a tooth off. If you are half a tooth off when all is lined up, rotate the cam pulley AFTER you have the belt and tension on the belt.
I hope this helps, if not, then try a new timming belt that isn't stretched at all.

Did it just as you described, so nothing wrong there, car is running fine, just a bite hot, could it be the reprofile of the cam that could make that the distributor is off. Would a ajustable cam pulley help with the distributors setup or not. a Mechanic told me that such a pulle would help to rectify the problem. What do you think
