Default Need help with speed sensor problem

Basically the speedo is not working and if it does work it is jumping all over the place without an accurate reading..

I know its my speed sensor but when I switched it out with a working one I still have the same problem..

If i wiggle the connector it will sometimes work and after maybe like 5 mins of driving it will stop working again. So I know it has to be a loose connection to the vss and the connector itself.

Anyone else ever have a problem where the connetor was loose and how I could possibly fix it.

Then it's not the sensor. Logic > you

If you swap a part, and the problem remains, then it's not the part at fault, it's something else.

Check that connector and the wire carefully. Sounds like something got crushed/cut/sliced/mounged/beat up. In this case, the VSS sounds fine, check out the wiring harness.

Sounds like that connector needs replacement. It should fit tightly and without any slop. Anything else means that there's something amiss.

Was the harness abused ever? I'd check around and make sure there aren't any other connectors that are...compromised.

no the harness is fine as it is the original from my car.

Im thinking maybe cause I have taken the tranny on and off so many times maybe it is just starting to get loose..

Whats the best way to fix the connector?
Cut one off another harness and jsut soder it on?

That's what I'd do. Trying to get the pins out and reset them is a pain, and you may end up breaking what's left of the connector. Make sure to heat-shrink the solder joints, and twist the wires tightly before you solder them (google for 'western union splice'). A good mechanical connection is 2/3 of a good solder joint.
