Well, there are a lot of options to consider. Probably the most effective will be a b series motor with a mild turbo setup at maybe 8 or 9 pounds of boost. A B18C at 9 lbs when properly tuned should put an EK well into the 13's. With some good airflow modifications, a couple hundred pounds of weight reduction and some more boost, 12's don't seem out of reach.

Running anything less than 10 psi, I wouldn't worry about upgrading the internals. A stock B18C with damn good tuning can handle as high as 12 psi with no issues.

Stock bore is 81mm, you shouldn't change this if at all possible if you plan on running boost without sleeving the block.

Running an all motor setup you'll spend a lot more money getting the horsepower that you want. being that you are shooting for 12's then drag racing is probably what you do most often. If you plan on primarily drag racing, then I wouldn't consider all motor unless you have a budget of considerable size.

If you do go all motor, consider the Civic Type R pistons and Toda valvetrain components. Cams are pretty much up to you, and should heavily depend upon your goals.

Basically what your going to have to do is:

1. sit down
2. do a lot of research
3. establish some goals
4. determine which upgrade path will best help you reach those goals
5. research that upgrade path
6. begin work

I've been researching for months and still haven't decided on what to do. While deciding though, I've been concentrating on things such as the interior, weight reduction, and next will probably be the suspension. You'll always have something to do to your car, so don't get in a hurry with the motor until you have a definate decision on what you want to do.

Easy there killer. Don't wanna run the guy off now do we? j/p

Research is recommended, and yes you can run the B18C1 without any issues by just swapping it in.
