need help identifying head...
b16 head..93...its really hard to tell that first year is 1993 i believe, but i have a gsr head, off a 94 jdm b18c, but it has 93 too on it, but the head came straight from honda, so i'm assuming its either a 93/94 b16 head..pr3=b16

Whats up with the journals? It looks like there are hairline cracks in them. Also they are very scuffed. Was the motor it was on previously oil starved?

-i cannot clearly read the first 2 digits in the first circle on the stamps.
-It is either a b16 or ITR head by the PR3 casting number
-Damage may be fixable with honing the caps.
-Jim Justice should have his hone by now. Call him up and send him the pics 301-624-1000

thanks...and I don't know if there was stravation. All I was told was that the journals can be fixable and that it was a 98 itr head. As for that hairline crack...I didn't noticed it until I took the pix and posted it up...sucks
But I'll go check the head to see if it is a crack. Does jim have h-t, cause I could just pm him.

Not a 99 head, is either 93 or 94, and most likely a B16A head, but if you have a good machine shop they can tell you for sure by the ports. I would also say that the damage is probably not fixable, but then again never tried, simply because I would not want to have my cams in that head spinning up to 10 grand, even after I had it fixed. Even honing them I would wonder what you would do to fix the gap that it would creatre around the cam, because if the cam moves in that journal even a little it will just keep destroying your cam seals.
well, I'm going to take it to a machine shop and have them look at the damage, to see if its fixable. And what do you mean by "are the intake valves necked"?
being that its a 93 head, I HIGHLY doubt it has anything to do with a type r. year of head manufacture is usually the model year of vehicle, or one year prior. I dont think honda would let the heads sit around for a few years and then use them.
I would pretty much classify that head as junk. If you try to have the cam journals align honed, it will move the cams closer to the rocker/valves and probably throw off the valve geometry as well as the timing belt relationship.
