need help with ex tranny swap question.!!!!
i have the ex tranny in and everything. im just having troubles getting the shafts back in it. any trick to getting this done? also when i put the nut back on the ball joint near the bottom of the brakes the bolt starts to move with the nut. does this mean i need a new ball joint? if so how much does this cost? let me know i really want this done tonight cause tomorrow is last time to get to go to the drags before winter. thanks guys
the axles should just pop in - try sliding them out a little and jam them in quickly (grab them at the inner cv joint) - sounds like the ball joint is a little worn - put the nut on as far as you can, then pry on the control arm to put tension on the bolt part as you tighten - this will sometimes work - if it is too worn, you will need to replace ball joint which is best done with a press, but can be done without one.
hey thanks for the info. ends up the bolt on the ball joint is stripped. woohoo. means i get to replace it before i get to try out my new tranny
. i cant wait though. 3.52 f/d to 4.25 should be a nice improvement.
