Need help with Chipping ECU, adding Spoon/mugen Chip...help
hey guys...I'm looking to do some work on my car and I want to add either a mugen/Jun/Spoon chip.
What do I need to do that???
There was a guy on the old forums selling a Skunk 2 P28 Chipped ECU with conversion harness.
Would I need to buy that...then order the Chip listed above and put that into the Skunk2 ECU to have my performance raised????
anybody know how to do this??
BTW: here's the link to the Skunk 2 ECU Sale:

exaclty what ecu are you talking about chipping. If it is OBD1 or a 90-91 it is no that hard to do but you can damage the ecu very easily. If youwant specific directions email me or I will do it for you for $60 return shipped to you. I also offer conversion harnesses.

I would highly reccomend against running a Z6 with the mugen chip. i have tried it in my z6 crx and ahve tried it in a friends b16 ek and it ran both of them extremely rich not to mention that open loop is disabled so economy goes in the trash. I personally use a pyr chip with full throttle launch and it works great on a sohc. As foar as chiping the ecu you will have to desolder some holes and put in a 28 pin socket a 74HC373 chip, two .1u ceramic disk capacitors, a 1-1.2K resistor and a jumper. If you open the ecu case you will see in the bottom right the area that I am talking about. Once again, if you try it yourself I highl reccomend tht you take ESD precautions and be very careful with the soldering iron on the PCB
thanks for the reply.
but one thing I'm still wondering about is this:
in the link provided in my first post...the poster called Dpatton is selling the
Skunk2 P28 Chipped ECU, w/OBD-II to OBD-I conversion harness
If I buy that...I connect my car wiring harness with the Correct harness adapter, then plug in the Skunk2 Socketed P28 and use that as my ECU.
Then I order a chip from http://www.hondaecu.com or Ebay.com and plug the chip into the Selected Slot on the Skunk2 ECU
is that correct?????
sorry for being so questioning...I'm wanting to do some ecu work and want to get it right the first time

you do not need the converison harness. The p28 will plug right into your existing wiring. If you are going to pay that much for a chipped p28 i would get one from hyperduck or Ih8ricerz on this board, they both should be able to sell you the ecu with the chip that you want. if not I can sell you just the chip if you want to buy the ece from that website. For reference I sell them for $150 shipped prechipped but I don't have any right now.
