Default Need help!!!! car smoking

My car is smoking out of the exhaust, and it is a white smoke, and it smells like gasoline. I found out one of the cylinders was dead so I replaced the rotor, cap, plugs and plug wires, and it still smokes.

Anyone had this problem or know what it could be??

TIA

thats the thing, its not burning coolant or oil..its burning excess gasoline. My friend said its probably one of my injectors has gone bad, and is only leaking fuel into the cylinder instead of spraying it.

Here's a trick I learned from DIY, I believe. Get a looooong screwdriver or something. Now being carefull not to get caught in anything moving and not to burn yourself...put one end on the injector and other to ear (be carefull and be aware of all your suroundings!) now using it as a stethescope (hope I spelled that right ) listen to the pulse. Compare all four injectors. If the pulse is not consistent try to clean the injectors and test again. If that still don't work then you probably need to replace injector.

Something else to check out...

If the diaphragm of your FPR ruptured, you'll get gasoline thru the FPR's vacuum hose. That'll make it run really rich, without any single injector being screwed up.

A new fuel pressure regulator is maybe $100?? But it's simple to install. It still depends on what you find out is REALLY the problem.
