Brother was on his way home tonight, car was running perfect, then out of nowhere it backfires (through the exhaust) and shuts off, he pulls of the road, checks to make sure T-belt is on, and everything is hooked up... all checks out well. T-belt didn't skip or anything.. so he cranks it, it starts and revs normally. Gets out of car for 2 seconds, and the car shuts off, will not start again at all now. Car has fuel, but is not getting any spark, pulled cap off distributor, everything checks out in there.... Trying to figure this one out, any ideas??

One more thing, the distributor is a new (reman) from napa for a GS-R. Can't think of anything else that would kill spark only and not the fuel with it, except maybe the main relay under the dash?

it could be your ignition where u put the key it is probably worned out. to see if it is hold ur key above the starting for a long time to see if the motor doesnt turn off if it doesnt and theirs your answer

 

He said he cranked the car over for quite a while lastnight, checking spark, and fuel etc.... The car cranks over completely fine, just no spark at all, still strange, going to try swapping in another distributor tonight hopefully, any other ideas?? Thanks for the reply so far

i think that once you change the distributor it will fix the problem...

 

Swapped in another brand new distributor, fixed it.. Thanks again for the replies
