Default HELP: car won't start!

my bro has a 1993 civic HB with a b16 swap with i/h/e... he's had it for quite awhile with no problems, but today when he tried to start his car it wouldn't start.

the car cranks, and we can smell the gas shooting in the cyclinders when we try to start it. the battery is not dead, so far we took out the spark plugs and there was a lil' bit of oil on the threads, but no where else.

we had our friends dad look at it [i think he's a mechanic] and he thinks it's the distributor, does that sound like that can be the cause?

if we need a new distributor, can we use one from a GSR or does it have to be from a b16?

any help would be appreciated...

check the distibutor(thoroughly), timing, plugs and wires and grounds. Youll need a distro for a b16 im pretty sure.

You might not have to replace the whole distributor, I am willing to bet that you might want to check the ignitor or the coil first.Look in the service manual and run the test on those two things whichever one fails replace it

I had the same problem, first thing u want to do is check for spark. Take out a wire and stick a little screw driver and see if u get spark, make sure someboy crank the engine over if there is no spark I betcha its the ignition module, like $60 at any local autoparts store, used distributor can set u back least $125. so check the cheapest thing first good luck
