i have a 96 civic dx i switched the engine to a d16y5 and i used the stock y7 dizzy and i just switched the engine harness and ecu to a d16y8 harness out of a 98 ex and i got the vtec working but when it pops it doesnt want to rev on through the rpms it hesitates and i have a engine code that is reading bank 1/sensor 2 on the 02 sensor i know i have to rewire the ecu pins for the secondary 02 sensor and im running automatic trans and the 2nd gear indicator light is on while it is in park and im out of ideas

 

why so meny different parts from different engines?

so you had y7 engine and then you switched to y5 and you try to use wirings and ecu from y8?

why dont you use y7 wirings and ecu with your y5 engine?

 

yea im using a d16y8 ecu and harness and when i put the d16y5 in the injector wires where to short because i went to the side mounted fuel injection from the top mounted fuel injection and i didnt want to cut the d16y7 harness and i wanted the vtec to work thats why i went to the d16y8 harness and the y8 has a knock sensor for vtec and i dont have the d16y5 ecu and harness

 

oh about forgot im going to get the y8 dizzy today and getting the other 02 plugs and a few ecu pins for the secondary 02 sensor

 

you could make wire extentions it wouldnt be so difficult...

 

yea the only thing i got left to do now is wire the secodary 02 sensor now so i gotta find the ecu harness diagram now thats the only check engine code i have now

 

i wish that hesitation caused only by 2nd 02 sensor.

 

i couldnt wire the secondary 02 up to the harness every thing i found on it was wrong so i went back to the 96 dx engine harness and extended the injector wires now i need help on wiring the vtec for the 98 ecu and i running a automatic trans and both harness and ecu are for automatic and am i going to have to wire the knock sensor i dont want to have a check engine light at all

 

i think at tolerance data they have nice wiring diagrams and ecu pin numbers from every car.

you can wire the o2 sensor straight to the proper ecu pin
