So I've just finished day three of targa newfoundland, and ran into a weird problem. First, the car:
95 Integra
eCtune
b18a bored to 84mm
Golden Eagle Sleeve
Rods
11:1 Pistons
b16a head ported by portflow
stock b16a cams
4-2-1 header
straight 3" exhaust

So in the middle of a stage today the car started making a lot of intake noise and felt down on power. I'm thinking it's an issue with the VTEC system but don't know.

When VTEC engages it's audible, the oil pressure drops a few psi to 60 and the engine gets louder as expected. However as the engine speed increases the intake noise gets super loud, and even almost drowns out the loud as fxck exhaust. The car never sounded like this before. I've been beating on it all day with no issue other than less power and more intake noise.

I've cleaned both screens, and tested the solenoid for function. I'm at a loss. Please help! I need MOAR POWARR for tomorrow!

 

There's lots of variables here that play into it. Now I want to know:

-How many miles are on the engine?
-Are all your vacuum lines hooked up?
-Is there a proper tune?
-Is there adjustable cam gears on your cams?
-Are you using the correct spark plugs?
-Is there an aftermarket intake system on there?
-What fuel are you running?
-Are the gaskets properly sealing on the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, there's a possibility of a crack on the exhaust?
-Did PortFlow build the head?

Please don't take offense to these questions, I'm just trying to get as much information down, so I can help you.
