From what I understand, Hondata is a ECU tuning component that will help you tune your ECU to make the most out of your cars modifications. Hondata works best with more highly modified engines so youd probably be better off spending your hard earned cash elsewhere like into your basic bolt ons (intake header exhaust). Once you get past those you may want to consider it then, its your poragative (spelling?).

As for "free" performance stuff you can do - There arent a whole lot you can do. You can take off yoru air filter (not recommended because it has the chance to suck in small dust and debris that could scour your cylinder walls or worse). You can also advance your timing a bit to give you more power. However, if you advance your timing too far you will start getting what is called 'detonation'. Detonation is when your fuel reaches its flash point before the spark can ignite it, causing your engine to fire while the piston is still on its 'up' stroke, which could cause serious engine damage.

Remember, making your car faster is all about risk vs reward.
