Default Need advice on swap

Heres my problem:

I bought my EK in the summer with a soft clutch since i was planning on getting a different motor swapped in. I was planning on waiting till spring, but it just so happens that my clutch is slipping really bad, and i'm woried that its going to go eventually and i wont have it running for a while..

I found a local JDM B18C motor, and was going to have it checked out by the performance shop that is doing the work to swap it in, but it was too difficult to arrange it so i had my friend check it out who is a licensed honda mechanic, going on 20 years now. He did the usual tests, for compression, smoke, sounds, leaks, etc etc... and he said the compression is strong and even across all cylinders, no weird smokes, no leaks, good overall etc... but the issue is that the guy has taken it to the track a few times in the 1/4 mile, and he even ran a zex 50 shot kit 2 times. The owner of the motor claims it didnt detonate or harm the engine at all cuz he was careful.

I've been looking arond casually at motors and this is a fair price for the condition, mods, etc. The Tech that looked at it said he wouldnt pay more than 2k for it, because who knows what can happen down the road if he did race it... my arguement to him is if i did find a motor for cheap, how would i know that it wasnt raced or drive hard either?

Need advice!!! TIA

Quick answer is you can not truly know the history of any motor other than one you put together and run from there. BUt even if it was tracked a few times with dope who cares every motor out there has been flogged before- My question is why jump from clutch job to motor swap. Esp. if the clutch job would make it "not running for a while". Any competent technician could install a clutch in your car in 5 hours or less. Even the DIYer can meet or easily exceed it. Why not rock a new clutch and take your time deciding a known power plant.

yah thats what i figured, that u cant really know the history of any motor unless i put it together. well i planned to get a motor swap done when i got the car, and i was going to wait till spring, but i figure i might as well now since the clutch is dead. I figure why spend the money getting the clutch replaced to a motor i'm just goign to end up getting rid of in a few months.

i'm just new to this, and want to make sure i cover all bases when ingthousands on a motor swap.
