My Timing Off?
Last my and friend changed out the timing belt. Mostly him though. Everything was dead on. I just attempted to start it and it sounded like crap.
**got a new basemap because i just put a turbo on it too.**
I heard something in the timing belt cover like **** was flyin around in there. So i took off the valve cover and that, and looked at the cam gears. The two dots were both pointing at 10 o'clock. I thought that they were supposed to be opposite. Could this be why it sounded like ****? I think the belt was jumping time and that was the noise i was hearing. Could i have bent a valve? it only ran for like 10 seconds.

Very similar sound but mine was MUCH worse. Like i said, it sounded like **** flying around behind that timing belt cover. Without that then yes. Same thing i guess.
i think i may have figured out the noise from the timing belt cover. Right below the cam gears there a piece of the lower timing belt cover that goes around it. Its rubbing agaist the inside of the cam gear. Hopefully that stops the noise. Idle still sucks *** though.
