Default My motor is hungry, why?

Ok, so recently, well, just recently I have noticed a loss of oil. About 2000 miles into an oil change I'll be missing 2-3 quarts. I may get on my car 2-3 times a week, and they're short sprints. It's an OBD I B18C. I was on the dyno last week and I didn't see any bluish smoke. I'm not dripping at all. Where is it going?

there are really only 3 places the oil can go

combustion chamber
cooling system
ground

losing that much oil, you should see a noticable problem in one of those areas.

Ok so, a few days ago, Friday, I check my oil in the morning before being driven and there was no oil on the dipstick. I added 2 quarts. I just went to check my oil and it's showing WAY over. Like as if there was adequate amount of oil and then added 2 quarts. I'm confused.

where do you check your oil?

needs to be on a FLAT surface, engine not running. if you check it immediatley after you drive you may get a low reading because there is still oil throughout the system that hasnt drained back.

drain your oil immediatley do NOT DRIVE 2 quarts overfilled.

I checked it in my drive way. It's as flat as it's going to be. The car hadn't even been driven for the day. I'm draining it directly after school tomorrow. I just want to know if there is something causing it to look low without it really being low.

Look at both sides of the dipstick, i have found that some cars will read a little higher on one side than the other.

i notice when there is NO oil at all on the dipstick, you need about only 1 quart and maybe a little to reach the top mark...remember, there is still oil in the motor.

As kamin said, only those 3 places is where oil goes..check you plugs, see if there fouled out, maybe the burnin of the oil isnt that noticable in the exhaust. 2 quarts of oil/wk and driven only 2-3 /wk is pretty bad, it shouldnt be hard to find the oil..

Thanks for the help fellas. I'm going to change the oil around 1pm and keep an eye out from there.

when u check oil on a dipstick use the low side reading (the high side is from the dipstick going in at an angle

the two dots (hole)on the dip stick stand 4 1 qt.
if oil reaches the bottom dot add 1 qt and ur full.
