Default My low buck Type R

Heres my GSR/B16a1 hybrid motor:

96 GSR block
b16a1 PR3 pistons, (which rods to use?)
Ported/polished b16 head
Type R valvesprings
ITR intake cam
GSR exhaust cam
b16 IM, TB
b16 wiring harness, ECU, and distributor

So basically, its a low budget type R wannabe using free stuff i already have. compression should be 11.1 i think with the b16 head. Im geting the ECU chipped and ill be shiftin at 8500 rpm. With the i/h/e you think this setup matches a ITR motor? (going in the shop next friday)

I think the ITR will have a better-flowing IM and TB... but otherwise you're pretty much equivalent.

I would think that my CAI, Dc headers, gutted cat, removed AC and PS would make up for thje 5 hp of a better flowing IM. So ill be bold and say that im sure this setup will ATLEAST be ITR equivelant. 200 hp to the crank. P.S. My car weighs about 2300 lbs. id say, its an EF 4 door. With that weight, what is possible in the quarter mile? 93 GSR tranny, ACT clutch, and 40 dollar Kumhos. hehe..ouch

P.S. just as a comparison, the old b16 with IHE and an ITR intake cam got me a 15.0 with brief loss of VTEC in 2nd gear. untuned, and my first time at the track.

Why did you ask if you already had your mind made up? Heheh...

I'd say get a testpipe rather than gutting your cat...

Personally I'd say low 13s in the 1/4 mile should be very attainable with that setup... provided you can control the loss of traction that you should be expecting.

And BTW, my sig time is with I/E/clutch + lightened flywheel... stock B16A...

wow, i dont think low 13's is attainable without slicks. Personally im hoping for a 13.9 Anywhere in the 13's would make my day. I just need some better tires.

I wouldnt worry about trying to compare your motor to an ITR's we dont even need to go there. Your EF's weight with about 165whp and the 92-93GSR cable tranny with decent rubber should be good for sub 14sec times. I wouldnt expect it until you learn the car and work the bugs out of it. Hybrid cars arent the easiest to tune the chassis for drag launching. Wheel hop is as a bitch and you will need a decent suspension as well. You may need some traction bars and really stiff *** motor mounts to start... and be prepared to bust axles with that clutch.

My mounts are pretty dahm stiff, i used to get wheel hop with my old hasport mounts, but these new ones are better i guess. I have no idea who makes them, they came with the GSR swap over. Im not too worried about breakin axles cause my tires are the weak spot in suspension right now, if im making too much power theyl just chirp and burn i guess. I had Azenis before and it cost me a blown differential. Wow, you guys think i can break 13's? Thats awesome! I wanna do it with full interior and street tires. That would be cool. The only advantage a 4 door is the longer wheelbase i guess, better take-offs.

ya i agree. dont get over hyped and then let down if you dont run 13's. just expect somewhere in the 14's and youl be happy with what ya got.

exactly my point get the car running and somewhat tuned and see what you have as a baseline. then you know what you need to do to go faster.
