Is my ECU burnt? PICS!!!
So i just finished my h22 swap in my EK. I went to have the exhaust connected at a shop nearby. The car runs like **** there and back. I figure something is wrong with the wiring. As im idling in my drive way (100-200 rpms), the car dies. I didnt start the car after that and now its been 2 days I go to start the car and it wont start. Ive checked the main relay, all my fuses, its getting gas. The car cranks but doesnt turn over. Also is seems to be losing power because the headlights surge as i try to start the car. So i decided to try and jump it but that didnt work either. So i thought i would open my ecu up to take a look and I noticed the corosion and what looks to be signs of frying. I havent opened up the ecu in a while but i think these are new i dont think ive ever seen these before.
Could this be the reason why my car isnt starting? Is my ecu burnt?
P72 ecu

yes your ecu is burnt, more then likely this is the reason why it doesn't start , if i am seeing right the second pic that shows burnt is a circuit for the distributor , you definetly have to double check your wiring ALL OF IT cause something has to be seriously wrong maybe more then just one in order to do that

agreed, that's water damage.
I've tried to fix a few water damaged ECUs before, with marginaly good results.
easier and cheaper to pick up one that hasn't seen water.
water damage sucks

i don't think that is all water damage , i thought that at first but it looks like some water some burnt r2 looks burnt in the first pic, considering how nothing else is effected...i would have imagined if it were water other stuff would be damaged??

I've never seen a resistor pop and leave reddish tan marks, black every time. (sometimes blue but you have to really try to do that)
I'm 100% positive that's corrosion via water. I'm also 100% that a new ECU should be in the works. Corrosion never stops, even if you remove all traces of it, think rust on a car... it will come back. (unless you replace the board and all the parts in the area)
I guess no one really answered the OP's question... yes very well could be the reason your car does not start. It may not be the reason, but it's certainly not doing you any good.
