Default much power difference bwtn 5w30 and 10w30?

would there be much power differences if i used mobil1 10w30 instead of 5w30? reason being that im burring a little bit of oil and my friend recommended that i switch from 5w for a thicker 10w. i feel that i might be losing power. should i change into thicker oil because im burnin oil?

once engine is warmed up, the oils are at the same viscosity.

I'll try to explain from a story I read 20 years ago......

in 5w30
5 = viscosity rating at 20 degrees F oil temp
w = multiweight oil
30 = viscosity rating at 200 degrees F oil temp

Don't quote me on the temps, it has been 20 years!

A quick Google search will help.
