Default hp and syntec oils?

I was just wondering if you gain any more power at the wheels if you use syntec oil as appossed to conventional oil since there is less friction on the motor with syntec oil I think? Has anyone ever done this experiment on a dyno before? Thanks for any imput.

I tend to agree. There will be a difference between weights in the oil, but any power gain isn't going to be worth the loss of reliability.

Many Honda mechanics will tell you that Hondas that use synthetic oil do have a tendency to leak... why this is the case, I do not know...

Been usuing Mobil 1 10w-30 in my Civic since 2200 miles (now has 91k), not a drop leaked. Same with m GS-R till my oil ring took a dump. It's normal to consume a small amount of oil in VTEC's (DOHC VTEC's really) under lots of pounding, but I've never had or seen leakage problems with any of my Honda's of my folks' Honda's with Mobil 1?

never use 5-30 / always use 10-30. automobile manufactures use 5-30 to gain better fuel mielage(less emissions) makes the EPA happy but is thinner which results in more engine wear. i have used mobil 1 in my hondas for years . engines are as clean on the inside as they were when new.

5w-30 is good for cold climates. The oil is thinner at cold temps then 10w-30. This results in less wear when the engine is first started on cold days.
