Mr car cools down when.....
I am hard on it. As soon as I start revving over 6500 rpm, my temperature gauge starts to drop. Any ideas of how to fix this? It is a B18C1 in a 93 Hatch with a GSR rad. I replaced the thermostat and bled the coolant system.
Hmmmm, at that RPM do you happen to be going fast? It could be that pesky air traveling through the radiator. If you want to stop it I would suggest a piece of cardboard or clear plastic to block the airflow. That would definatly keep the temp gauge from dropping. OR you could put the cooling fan on a switch. When the temp gauge starts to drop. Stop the car, rev the engine to 7500 RPM and shut off the fan. This will also cause the temp gauge to shoot right back up. LOL
Thanks for all your help!!!!! You guys have been amazing of informing me of a problem with my car. The water temp is normal until I am on it. When I hit 6500 rpm or so, it almost goes back into the cold section my temperature gauge. So for you three genius's, how do I fix this?!!?
And please try not to explain to me this is normal!!!!

Need more info.
What is the highest point before it goes back down? If it is 75% to the top and goes to maybe 40% from top when rolling...you have some cooling issues or a leaking headgasket.
Its not normal for the temp gauge to go back to cold from normal temps. I believe you either bought a defective/wrong thermostat or installed it wrong. Check if the gauge sending unit and the gauge itself is working correctly.

I have a DC Teg dash in my Civic. The gauge is almost right in the middle when normal but drops back to somewhere around the 1/8th mark of the temperature gauge. I dont think it is a faulty head gasket cuz nothing is leaking and there is no smoke coming from my exhaust. I will try yet another thermostat. It is installed properly. They only go in one way.
It also takes forever to warm up. Any ideas what is doing this from a coolant issue stand point??

it may not be your thermostat. try changing your coolant temperature sensor/switch. it is most likely in the bottom right (passenger) side of the radiator. there should be a plug that goes there. that controls the fan motor. it tells the fan what the temperature of the coolant is and when to turn on and off. if something is wrong with that, then that could explain why the temp guage jumps up and down. something else to check.
