Default Motor testing questions

I am planning to purchase a b16 this weekend, and wanted to do a compression test on it. However, the motor is out of the car, and has no oil in it. I am wondering if it is safe to do a compression test on it without the oil, or whether I would have to put oil in it and drain it afterwards. TIA

Default Re: Motor testing questions (dynamo)

i dont think the cranking rpms are enough to even pressurize the system.
just do the comp test and put oil in later.
