which motor oil should i use?
ok i want a good high performance oil....im thinking about amsoil or royal purple...my friends dad a hot rod guy whos been in the game for a while claims that amsoil has the highest flash temp and is the best oil...what ever that really means and my other friends uncle has a 7 sec drag car and he uses royal purple...he also said that he blew a motor running on redline synthetic so i doubt im gonna use that...oh yea this is for a b18c...i want the best...im kinda leaning towards the royal purple...
hey, wuhungsix....
well since you wont be running 7 sec. on the track or anywhere else, royal purple is a waste of money for your application. redline oil is good for you, jus cause your friends uncle used redline oil and blew an engine it doesnt mean that it'll happen to your engine, especially when your car is a daily driven car. well i dont no about that so tell me whats on your car and if your a daily driver or strictly on track racing or drag. i say mobil one synthetic or redline will do its job if not better for your application asuming its mildly modified daily driven car. jus remember to do your oil change every 3000 miles or so, even if a bottle of oil tells you that you can go up to 20,000 + miles before an oil change. they are bullshitting you. always do an oil change around 3000 miles, better if sooner, especially if you drive your car hard.

Just don't get the cheap motor oil. I recommend Mobil 1 (Full synthetic) motor oil for a daily driven car. If you really want to spend some money on good ones, try NEO. I heard those are really good, but too expensive for me.
AMSOIL. I've been using it for over three years. Smoother idle, better fuel mileage (+10%), improved seat of the pants performance and a lot less time spent changing oil. AMSOIL has been around for over 30 years and had the first API approved synthetic motor oil in 1972.
I run M1 in my car, and so does all of No Gum. Most people I know run it. It's good stuff. As often as we change it, it's impractial to get RedLine or AMSOIL. Too expensive. We change ever track event or so. Could only be maybe 1000 miles sometimes. Depends on what you do with the car I guess.

Just because an engine blew up in a 7 second drag car doesn't mean it was the fault of Redline oil. Redline makes some damn good stuff.
My $.02
Anything synthetic is better than anything non synthetic. Amzoil and Redline are good. They may be hard to find but at least they are expensive. Mobil 1 is availible at just about any Parts store(Auto Zone, Advance, Pep Boys), and Walmat too. I can get a 5 quart jug of my favorite Mobil 1 flavor at any Walmart for $17. That's a fantastic deal!
Both my cars use Mobil 1 in the engine and Redline MTL in the tranny. Your car will live a long time doing this.
