motor knocking. problem?
wasnt sure where to post this so i posted in both the civic and this forum
i havent been driving my hatch for a while but i need to get the car running this week. its a stock d16y7 and the motor is making a knocking sound. the knocking gets louder as i rev and it redlines pretty low. i cant tell where the knocking is coming from but the sound is low when im idling. and back when the problem came up the motor used to shutoff after coming to a complete stop after accelerating. is this problem gonna take a lot of work to fix? should i just swap it?

how long since you havent driven it? the knocking sound you are hearing is most likely your connecting rod.. it spun a bearing. since you are a stock single cam you are better off going with a swap. if you want a swap or even a stock replacement motor i can refer you to a qualified place to do the swap. pm me for more details.. but your current motor is toast and not worth it to fix a spun bearing, either another stock replacement or a swap is what i'd go with, s......
