Modding turbodiesel engine for more power? Help.
A friend of mine who drives a VW Golf with a TDi engine says she wants to modify her car. Is fixing up a turbodiesel engine the same as fixing up a regular turbo'd gas motor? I don't really know that much about Diesels. And don't really want to **** her car up by doing some **** to it that works on a gas motor but will **** up a Diesel motor? I was thinking about having her go buy a Turbo XS manual boost controller, and adding a 3" downpipe and exhaust, and upgrading the air intake. Will you experience the same gains with these mods on a diesel, as you would a gas engine?
look for european websites...also i heard tuning diseal ecus yields a good amount of torque and hps....because they are tuned very conservativly for good fuel economy....therefore gains of 15whp and 20lbs of torque can be easily gained..
This guy i know with a Ford F350 turbo diesel, got 70 hp and 100 torque from a chip!! I guess it cranks the boost up. This guys big *** dualie 4 door crew cab with a topper on the bed runs 14.4 and chirps 2nd with all 4 rear tires, CRAZY torque!
Dont mess with the fuel if you are not shure of what your doing.a diesel are Funny that way leaner mixture lower temp richer mixture higher temp, just the opposite of what a Gasoline engine does.
Of course higher boost on a diesel rquiers more fuel but not to much, that will burn valves, pistons and the turbo it self if it reaches extremes.
