Default Mixing Tires

How bad is it really to mix tires? I have a 3 Hrated tires and one Vrated tire on the back passenger. During an oil change today at Honda, the guy gives me this lecture on how its bad for the handling etc....Is this true, or he is just trying to sell me a tire? BTW I am not the one who mixed them, I've only had the car for 4months, but the Vrated Michelin is like brand new and i dont really wanna get rid of it. TIA

EDIT: What I'd like to do is have the michelin pilotH4 on front left and michelin vx4 on front right, and two toyo proxes in the back.

Default Re: Mixing Tires (sickSOLvtec)

it's not the best idea to mix them due to their different handling properties/abilities. as long as you don't drive like a maniac and keep it safe in wet conditions, you should be okay for a while until you can get a matched set.
