Mixing DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluid

Mixing DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluid
I need to bleed my brakes ASAP and I'd like to put DOT 4 brake fluid in because I plan on upgrading my brake pads in the near future. Can I mix DOT 4 fluid with what's in there now (presumably DOT 3) and does it matter what brand of fluid I get?
