Methods to remove a stripped head bolt?
I got a b18a that I wanna start building but while disassembling it I found one of the head bolts to be stripped. It just wasnt coming off I tried long and hard. And its not quite small enough to fit a 13mm socket.
I even tried drilling it but the bolt is too strong. I probably need stronger drill bits.
I was wondering if you guys could give me some things to try in order to get this bolt out of the head. Any help would be appreciated! thanks

you can get a "easy out" from sears they work pretty good.
or use a dremel and make it into a flathead screw and try to back it out like that,
good luck

had the same thing happen to my friend's GSR engine. we rented a Milwaukee 90 degree drill from home depot, bought a bolt extracting drill bit, a drill bit the same size as the bolt extractor bit, and a center punch.
we center punched the broken stud and drilled a hole 1/4-1/2 way down the broken stud. the final step was to put the bolt extracting drill bit on the drill and put it on reverse to extract the broken stud. if done correctly, the results would be orgasmic

try NOT to drill the bolt... go to sears and craftsman has stripped bolt sockets(easy outs)... the sockets work great... if you have airtools use them... otherwise hand tools will suffice... i would greatly encourage you NOT to drill it... besides being a pain you will probably ruin the head or block if not careful...
I have one other idea, I had to use it for a broken bolt in my crank. You can if all else fails with grinder cut a flat head grove in the bolt and use an impact driver to bang the bolt lose and then use a screw driver with lots of torqe to finish the job. I would highly recomend this be the last ditch effort becasue you don't want to be banging away on your head. You can get an impact driver for pretty cheap a sears or somewhere esle. Good luck.

n/m. i read it again and realized and he was referring to the headstuds and not the manifold studs for the exhaust manifold.
don't use the method in my previous post
